What fun and great joy it was to see my former sixth graders who are now juniors in high school at our five year class reunion. When we talked about it as an idea as a class at the end of 2004, they seemed pretty enthusiastic about it. But, I didn't actually think that it would become a reality. I was completely surprised and caught off guard when I received an email last year from a former student asking if I was still interested in a five year reunion and whether I would be back in the country. She made it happen and I got to see my former sixth graders on Saturday. I was surprised by how many of them had not seen each other because many were attending different schools and they had a blast reconnecting. We shared some fun memories and just had a wonderful time seeing and reconnecting with one another. I was so impressed by how beautifully many of them have matured and the number of students thinking about and preparing to go to four year colleges. It was a very satisfying thing to see your former students doing well and coming back to see one another and to see me. They want to do another one in five years.... I hope I could make it!
